Our History

Established in 2000, the South of Market Community Action Network SOMAN) supports the well-being of tenants, workers, seniors, youth, and their families, while building collective power among low-income and immigrant communities to advance a more just and equitable society.

As a multi-issue, multi-strategy organization, we work to improve lives at the individual and family level, while driving broader social change through culturally competent direct services, policy advocacy, civic engagement, and community organizing. Our work spans a wide range of interconnected issues-from tenant rights and language justice to community planning and workers' rights.
